We understand the frustration caused by the ongoing roadworks by Virgin Media in our area. The disruptions and delays have been a nuisance for everyone. We believe it’s essential to prioritise the smooth flow of traffic and the safety of pedestrians during these works.
That’s why we’ve taken action and filed a formal complaint to Central Bedfordshire Council regarding these disruptions.
We have emailed Central Bedfordshire Council with the following comments:
Cranfield Parish Council expresses profound dissatisfaction with the ongoing works conducted by Virgin Media in the village of Cranfield. Cranfield Parish Council observes that the quality of remedial work is substandard, resulting in uneven footpaths and seriously damaged verges. This has raised significant health and safety concerns, particularly for elderly residents, individuals using mobility scooters or wheelchairs, and parents with small children in buggies and prams. Furthermore, the temporary traffic lights have led to considerable disruption, causing extensive traffic congestion. Additionally, It has been drawn to our attention, Virgin Media caused damage to BT cables, resulting in complete loss of internet access for both individuals and businesses in some areas. This situation appears to be a clear case of negligence on their part. Cranfield Parish Council also would like to highlight the lack of advanced notice regarding these works in the area, and believes residents were not adequately informed.
In conclusion, Cranfield Parish Council seek reassurance from Central Bedfordshire Council that these issues will be thoroughly investigated, addressed and further remedial work be undertaken to remedy holes, uneven footpaths and damage to verges and splays.
