Dog Waste Bins – Broad Green & High Street Recreation Ground, Cranfield
Following concerns raised regarding dog waste bins within the parks, representatives from the Parish Council recently met on site with Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC) Environmental Services to review the current arrangements.
CBC have advised that the three larger dog waste bins currently within the parks are not part of their registered assets and therefore will no longer be emptied by CBC contractors. As a result, these bins have now been removed.
The smaller existing dog waste bins within the parks will continue to be emptied by CBC and an additional dog waste bin will also be installed in the alleyway by the school near Red Lion Close.
CBC have confirmed they will monitor the situation following the removal of the larger bins and review any future concerns regarding capacity or overflow issues.
Residents are also reminded that:
• Black liner bins are for recycling only
• Blue liner bins are for general waste and can also be used for bagged dog waste
Please do not leave dog waste bags on the ground or where the removed bins previously stood. This constitutes as littering and/or dog fouling offences under environmental legislation and local Public Space Protection Orders and could result in enforcement action or fixed penalty fines from CBC. Any dog waste left in these locations will not be removed.
Please also remember these are children’s play parks and recreational spaces used regularly by families and young children. Dog owners are kindly asked to pick up after their dogs at all times and dispose of waste responsibly.
